Compared to a lot of people I know, I’m not a big shopper. I tend to get bored and frustrated quicker than some.
Early on, I came to the realisation that ‘one size’ doesn’t fit all, and that most things in the shops are made for people who are taller than me, with different sized hands, feet, head, ears…you get the drift. And no, I’m not Frankenstein’s monster or some weird little hobbit! 😛 It’s just that the things that tend to get mass produced are made for the common denominator.
And so, to get the best products for me, I often have to do some research. I always aim to buy the product with the best features and the best fit/design to suit my needs.
This is hard because I actually hate reading most product reviews. I feel like they tend to focus on the specs of the product rather than how it feels to use. Even when they do mention how it feels, it’s often from the perspective of a man sized person.
I’m currently on a quest to find the best gaming headphones to suit a girl-sized head. When I
rescue the princess find the perfect one, I’ll let you know.
But in the meantime, I wanted to share with you my favourite pair of earphones. The brand is ‘Yurbuds’ and if you google them you’ll find a list of features…silicone earpiece, easy to hear ambient noises…blahblahblah. Forget the features, here are the benefits:
- The earphones are crazy comfortable, even though they sit in my ear I can barely feel them there.
- They don’t fall out of my ears AT ALL because of the way they twist into the ear piece so they’re perfect for people who have small ears, and also great for runners. I can put them in my ears and shake my head like crazy and they won’t fall out.
- The audio sounds really weird/cool – I think this is what they mean when they say ‘can hear ambient noises’: music is clear and loud, but when someone nearby talks, I can hear them really clearly. It’s a little freaky but great when I wear them at my desk at work. They’re meant to help runners hear nearby traffic.
I think the reason why the fit is so great is because they make specific styles for men and women. Thank you Yurbuds for acknowledging men and women have different sized heads.
Now if only I could find some decent gaming headphones.
